Tweety - 13th Place

Congratulations to Ramona Hand and her bird Tweety.

Tweety is the sweetest little angel.  She is the light of my life, who arrived at our home in April 2006 as a very spoiled hand-fed baby.  Before I can get her cage door open she is already climbing up and down the bars making little “tweet” noises, which is her way of saying hurry up so she can get out.   Tweety gives kisses, nibbles my ears, chews my hair and loves climbing on my glasses.  She also likes her play gym where she swings and rings the bells.

Tweety loves to shred paper, climb into small boxes (especially tissue boxes), push empty paper towel rolls around, and ring the many bell toys in and out of her cage.  She will hang upside down on her bell chandelier for several minutes just shaking the whole unit.  Tweety’s biggest challenge was accepting another Lovebird in her life.  I believe she is a bit jealous and begs for all the attention by making sure everyone sees her first.  If you pass by her cage she will scamper back and forth until you stop to speak to her.  She will listen and answer back with a “tweet,” turn her head and pace some more.

Tweety loves to hide in empty tissue boxes and peek out at me while bobbing her head.  If anyone gets near her box she will start chewing the edges very fast and tucks pieces under her feathers.  Tweety should be in commercials for a popular sleeping tent.  In the morning when I go to check on her she quickly comes to the door of her tent, raises her head high, turns it slightly as if to listen, and then bobs it up and down a few times before coming out on a nearby perch. This little bird has brought so much joy to our home.  If someone had told me this was possible. I would have brought a Tweety home years ago.
