I would like to enter my pet lovebird Nickie in the pet contest. She is a 4 1/2 month old peach faced lovebird and is a joy to have. This is my first experience with a lovebird. I research alot about all the different kinds of parrots that were out there and I feel in love with the lovebird. I also have 3 parakeets and let’s just say if I knew that lovebirds can be so much fun I would have had lots more. I bought Nickie through a breeder and watched her grow from the first day she was born. She even has a baby book. Nickie keeps us so entertained. She is a very active lovie. In her cage she has many different types of toys. Her favorites are rope toys which she can climb and hang from and wicker toys that she can pull apart When she wants to come out of her cage she lets you know by going to one of the doors and bobbing up and down as if to say come on open this up like this and let me out. She chirps all day long and talks back and forth with my other birds she even chirps when she is napping during the day. Nickie gets so excited when she sees me getting her bath tub ready; when she takes her bath she looks like a wet rat it is so cute. She loves to help me with my house chores especially the dishes.
The evening is her alone time with me and we cuddle and watch TV together. Well, I should say I watch the TV and she cuddles anywhere she can squeeze into like under my PJs on my shoulder, or under the covers on my neck. If you let her she will stay there for hours. She is a very smart bird and knows when I mean business. I call to her if she gets to far when she is out playing and comes running back. We play ball with her whiffel ball, I throw it she runs after it and attacks it, and it is so hilarious.
I never knew a pet bird can be so much fun to have. I live in New Jersey with 4 kids, a dog, a cat, 3 parakeets and a lovebird. It is a very busy house and Nickie is right in the middle loving all the attention she gets from everyone.
