Hi! My name is Niki Eisenhower. I am a 2-1/2 year old male orange-faced Australian cinnamon lovebird, adopted when I was three months old. My flock-mate's name is Linn. I am the only pet my mate has right now, although I understand he's buddied up with several parakeets in the past (bet they couldn't have kept up with my metabolism!). He wanted me to see him as my sole buddy, so he refrained from housing more of my kind at the same time. Suits me just fine - I get all the attention and all the snacks! Speaking of which, my favorite snacks are warm cooked oatmeal and spaghetti, or any noodle for that matter. I'm not partial to anything green, though (yuck!) Don't care for many fruits either, but nuts are good.
My mate lets me out of my cage (oops - home, that is) a few hours a day for exercise and socializing. I can only go about an hour before having to return home to eat, since I burn energy like ... like a 2-1/2 year old, of course. My mate was kind enough to allow my clipped flight feathers to fully grow back while I acclimated to his home, so I can now rip around and get into all kinds of mischief. I understand how windows work, so I don't bump into them - just sit on the sill and watch my wild cousins romp outside. I join them (in my cage, silly!) when the weather is warm and I won't get sick. I'm rearin' to play in the morning, then take my nap in the afternoon (sometimes on my mate's shoulder or tummy). By evening, I'm usually played out and ready to snuggle with my mate. I especially like it when he preens my new itchy neck feathers with his mustache - feels soooo good ! ;>). When my mate says it's time for "nite-nites", I'll sometimes (if I've had my fill of playtime) head for home without coaxing, get my last snack and drink, and jump up to my top-most rung and puff up for the night, because I know the lights are going out soon.
