The ALBS Pet Writing Contest 2006

 
The African Lovebird Society, (ALBS), announces their second annual ALBS Pet Writing Contest. Pet owners are encouraged to write about their favorite lovebird pets and win lots of great prizes!  The contest is open to all people. Writers are asked to share their stories about their pet’s unique personality, amusing antics, adventures, fun daily activities or any interesting topic that makes their lovebird pet special.  Entries will be judged on creativity and composition.  

Multiple prizes will be awarded to winners in three categories: Adult, Youth K-7th grades and Youth 8th-12th grades. First, second and third place winners in each category will receive packages full of prizes donated by ALBS members and sponsors. A wide assortment of prizes will be awarded including bird cages, travel carriers, play gyms, bird toys, food and treats, books, and posters, as well as MP3 players for both Youth 1st Place Winners.  All 1st Place winners will also receive subscriptions to Bird TALK Magazine as well as an Agapornis World Journal.   Winning articles will be published in the ALBS Journal and posted on the ALBS website.  Please check back often as we continue to gather lots of nice and exciting prizes!

The competition is now officially open and submissions are welcome. The deadline for submissions is December 15, 2006. Winners will be notified by January 30, 2007 and all prizes will be shipped to winners’ home addresses. All entries should be e-mailed to: petcontest@africanlovebirdsociety.com.   There is no required word count. Please attach 2-4 digital photos of the featured pet lovebird.  Please see the exact instructions below.

 

Rules 
- The bird must be a love bird.  Hybrid birds are ok.
- You do not need to be a member of ALBS to participate. 
- 1st through 4th place winning birds of the 2005 ALBS Pet Contest cannot be entered again, but the owners may enter in submissions for other pets.
- Multiple entries per family are allowed.
- The contest is not limited to residents of the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico. We welcome everyone around the world to participate.
- We reserve the right to change or modify the rules at any time. 
 

Submission Instructions

  1. Send an e-mail to petcontest@africanlovebirdsociety.com
  2. The subject should say "ALBS PET CONTEST - NAME"(of love bird) - Grade Level or Adult

    For example: ALBS PET CONTEST - SUNNY - 5TH GRADE

    or ALBS PET CONTEST - MANGO - ADULT

  3. There should only be 1 pet entry per e-mail.
  4. Attach 2-4 different pictures of your love bird pet.
  5. Please write and describe your love bird and any funny antics that makes your love bird special or unique.(Any information you want to provide about your love bird and want to share with everyone). If you are one of the winners, this information will be posted on the website.
  6. Also include your full name, e-mail, address, and phone number.
