A while back, I came across an ad from a woman with a problem.  She had two lovebirds, Razzle and Gusto.  Razzle absolutely adored Gusto, however, Gusto wanted nothing to do with him- she could tell he was more of a people bird.  Well, she worried about Razzle, because he desperately seemed to want another lovebird companion, but she couldn't add another bird to her family.  So she placed the ad, hoping to find a home for Razzle where he could find another lovebird to bond with.

At the time, I had one lovebird, Hunny whom I had just bought.  When I first found her, she was with another lovebird, and would always be cuddled up to him in the cage.  I brought her home, not forgetting how content she looked with her lovebird buddy.  So, when I saw the ad about Razzle, the lovie that needed a friend, I thought about my own lovie that seemed to miss her companion that she was handfed with.

I decided to take a chance and go see Razzle.  Needless to say, I feel in love immediately.  He is a double dark factor yellow/green pied peachfaced lovebird- try say that ten times fast- and he is just beautiful.  So, I took Razzle home hoping Hunny would also fall in love, and knowing that his original owner was torn with her decision to find him a new home.  I could tell she loved him and just wanted what was best for him.

Well, they hit it off almost immediately.  They love spending out-of-cage time together with my other two lovies, Windy and Jellybean.  One day, I heard some chattering going on, and when I looked at the playgym, I found them all in a little huddle, have some sort of interesting conversation.  I couldn't help but wonder what they were talking about as I snapped a quick picture of them, Razzle in the foreground, Windy on the left, Jellybean on the right, and Hunny peaking from the back, making sure she wasn't left out of the picture.

And my favorite picture of Razzle was one I took of him as he snoozed in the sunlight one afternoon.  When I look at it, seeing how content he looked, I am so glad he found his way into our family.  He has brought such happiness to his my 9-year-old son (who absolutely adores him), and myself.  And he continues to thrive with his lovebird buddies.  I still keep in touch with his first mommy, so she knows that his is safe and very much loved, and so she can feel content knowing that her tough decision payed off.  Sometimes, things just have a funny way of working out for the best.
