Judge's Comments:
Travel concerns, another show not far away, and the economy in general seemed to combine to keep our attendance down, but we still had a major show with just 4 exhibitors. This is a major show in Texas and the Civic Center was filled with vendors and the show birds.
Fortunately, the ALBS division was assigned to a large room across the hall from the vendor area. This kept the noise level down to a reasonable level. We had 50 birds entered by 4 exhibitors. There was 1 rare and 14 eye ring, leaving us with 35 peachfaced, 4 of which were "longfeather" entries. The largest section was green peachfaced with 12 followed by Fischer's with 10 entries. This late in the season there were a few birds which were not in the greatest of show condition, but most had survived the trip to the show in good shape. A very nice Orangefaced Lutino Peachfaced was selected for first place. The bird had good size and very nice head proportions in addition to excellent condition. 2nd was a blue Fischer's with good depth of color and a very well defined frontal band. These were followed by Australian Cinnamon Blue, an Orangefaced, an Orangefaced Pied, an American Yellow Pied with good size, a Medium Blue, a Whitefaced Violet, a Normal Fischer's, and a Yellow Fischer's.
The Best Novice Exhibitor bird was the normal Fischer's in 9th place. The best young bird was a Lutino Peachfaced. All 4 exhibitors received top bench awards. My thanks to the exhibitors and members of the TBB for staging an enjoyable and successful show for ALBS. Special thanks to Marilena Salmones and Sharon Cason for their work during the judging and to Marilena for her work in organizing the regional show. |
