Judge's Comments:

It was very nice to visit the Florida State Fair in Tampa. I have not judged there in several years. Best of all a real pleasure to see ALBS members from the region. Several ALBS members also traveled long distance to attend the show from as far as New England.

Needless to say we had a very good show with 83 love birds exhibited. Several rares, a large number of masked and Fischer's and a very good variety of peachfaced, including a champion and a longfeather.

The best bird was a lovely, excellent colored green Fischer's Type I. This bird was well trained, perfect bright clear orange face - very typy, full body, good posture and not too big - a very lovely bird. The second place bi rd was an orangefaced American cinnamon green. A nice bird with good posture. I was impressed by the width and fullness of the body and head - very often a quality missing in orangefaced love birds. Number three was a masked green of excellent color. There were several green masked of excellent color, including a medium green, which is difficult to achieve. This masked had a perfect clear yellow collar(no orange) and a very large deep black mask, an excellent bird.

Other birds that impressed me were the whole pied section. It has been years since I have seen so many very good pieds, beautiful well marked (symmetrical) birds. The whitefaced birds at this show were also of exceptional quality with pure white foreheads.

All in all our friends in Florida had a good competitive show. A special thanks to Norm and Paul doing such a good job as stewards, Holly my secretary and all those who helped and made my job so much easier. Thanks also to Deb and Kathie and all those new ALBS friends I finally got to meet in person. Thanks again for inviting me.

Judge's Comments:

I would like to thank the Florida State Fair for having me judge the Love Bird Division. The show went really well. Also thank you to the exhibitors that brought out their show birds to boost the numbers of the show. We had 10 exhibitors and 83 birds - good numbers and good birds. Thanks to all the people that made the lovebird division a big success at the Florida State Fair. All the sections had birds. In the Fischer's green, we had a class of 9 - the biggest class of the day. Looking at the show report above will tell you how the birdes placed. Thank you to everyone.
