Judge's Comments:
The "Picture Post Card" of white fluffy snow greeted us at the Mid-West Regional show in Denver. I especially want to thank those brave members who drove in the wintry weather to show their birds.
A very good variety of birds was exhibited. The strongest section for the first time this year was the Violet Peachfaced Section. The top bench had birds of good size and type. Many of the birds showed soft feather and some condition problems due, I'm sure, to the change in weather.
It was a very good show, and I thank the Denver Show Committee for inviting me to participate.

Judge's Comments:
Denver had snow for several days before this show. Thanks to the exhibitors who showed up and brought birds from a long distance. We had 66 entries from 4 exhibitors. Three exhibitors were represented on the top bench of 11 birds. There were 4 black cheek entered in the rares and all were nice birds. The second place bird had one of the best bibs I have seen but it lacked in some other areas. The first place bird did not place on the top bench because it damaged its tail during the show.
We had a large section of 14 Fischer's, then 2 entries in the masked section. There were a total of 43 peachfaced with the largest section being the blues with 12 entries. There were 3 champion birds entered but they did not place highly at the end primarily because of condition.
We broke up four entries in the normal Fischer's class into two classes each for Type I and Type II. There was an obvious difference in that two fo the birds had very light coloring on the head and the other two showed the normal darker brown. Selective breeding for the lighter color has led ALBS to establish Type I (darker head) and TypeII (lighter head).
A very nice whitefaced blue peachfaced was ranked first. This bird had an excellent stance in addition to prize winning body proportions. It was nice to see this type come to the top because it has been a while since I have seen really nice examples of this type. They have been mixed with other mutations to the extent that the plain whitefaced is becoming rare. This is normally a very nice "type" and it had been used to improve body size, conformation and proportion in other mutations. I believe breeders should breed more of the plain whitefaced to have them available to improve breeding stock in general.
A medium orangefaced green peachfaced was ranked second. This was again a very nice "type" bird. Six of the top 11 birds were orangefaced in combination with some other mutations. The breeders who entered this show have obviously done a lot of work with this mutation. A yellow Fischer's with a classic "all orange" bib was ranked third.
My sincere thanks to Janet Garcia and Glenda Pullum who performed the duties of division secretary, to Janet Tackett for placing ribbons and to Dave Arthur for an excellent job of stewarding. I also want to mention the show organizers for a great show well done. My particular thanks to Lisa McManus for her great communication with the judges.
