The show was the first day of a BOAF/NELEA Double Show. Most of the NELEA members turned out in force to support. Even Blake & Betty Ma drove 18 hours from IL. Wow!! We had birds in all the sections. Most all were in prime condition just weeks before the National.

I was really impressed with the markings on the Green Pieds. You could not ask for more symmetrical markings. We also saw a wide variety of Opaline and peachfaced in general.

I always appreciate coming to this show. Not just because of the fresh lobster but the hospitality is second to none.

Thank you all for your help at the NELEA show hall in Manchester, NH 10-20-06. Katie Secor secretary, Gary Morgan for stewarding, Frank Horan for answering questions and putting up with one and all 8 exhibitors who brought their 91 birds. The weather was not very cooperative because it rained all weekend, but the North East is very beautiful with fall and the changing colors of the trees end as always the seafood was extraordinary.

The overall condition of the birds was a little off hurt there was a fine group of birds to judge and I enjoyed the friendly atmosphere of Manchester.

And Orangefaced Opaline took division winner and though not the largest bird it was in excellent feather and had good markings for an opaline. A young Abbysinian female took 2nd place by Janet Landvater - and she also placed a young male in 12th place. Blake & Betty Ma placed 6 in the top 14: a Medium Green in 3rd and an extra nice fallow in 5th which I gave the Judge's Special Award. It was nice to see the fallow make a showing after several years absent from the show circuit. It was not in the best feather but had excellent conformation and deportment. Blake's black-cheeked took 6th, and I found out later has made champion this year. Frank Horan had a nice Violet Australian Cinnamon at 7th place. Linna Reusmann had a nice sized Whitefaced Violet Pied at 11th. Tara Horan rounded out the top 14 with an Orangefaced Australian Cinnamon. 3 Champions were shown with Frank's Whitefaced Violet taking 2nd overall.
